Apple Unveils Dedicated Siri App in iOS 27, Turning Assistant Into Full‑Featured Chatbot

Apple will ship a standalone Siri app with iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, marking the first time the assistant will occupy its own space. The new interface mirrors popular chatbot apps, allowing users to type or voice‑ask via an Ask Siri bar and attach files with a paperclip icon.

Siri’s overhaul turns it into a web‑enabled chatbot that can pull data from the internet and Apple’s own ecosystem. It will read emails, photos, calendar events and more, then generate content, summarize files, write emails and control device settings. Apple will integrate the bot into Mail, Messages, Photos and Apple TV, offering a unified experience across the company’s platforms.

Design cues from Bloomberg’s mockup show iMessage‑style bubbles and a dark theme with subtle pink, blue, purple and orange accents. The app will also archive past conversations in a card‑style view, letting users resume any thread. Apple plans to debut the updates at WWDC 2026 on June 8, giving developers a preview.

The move signals Apple’s push to compete with ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, positioning Siri as a versatile AI agent that blends personal data with web search to deliver richer, context‑aware responses for consumers.
