Apple Removes 512GB Option from M5 MacBook Pro

Apple has eliminated the 512GB storage option from its base M5 MacBook Pro configuration, replacing it with a 1TB SSD across all models. The 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro now starts at $1,699, up from $1,599, but includes double the storage. This change affects both the standard M5 and higher-end M5 Pro and M5 Max models.

While the base price increased by $100, Apple has significantly reduced SSD upgrade costs. The 2TB upgrade now costs $400 instead of $600, and the 4TB upgrade dropped to $1,000 from $1,200. This means customers upgrading to 1TB storage actually save $100 compared to the previous configuration, making the higher-capacity option more affordable.

Apple has also updated its stock configurations, removing the 512GB/16GB RAM base model. The lineup now includes a $1,899 model with 1TB SSD and 24GB RAM, plus a new $2,099 configuration with 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM. Standard M5 MacBook Pro models with these new storage tiers are available for immediate purchase, with delivery as soon as tomorrow.
