Apple M5 MacBook Pro Refurb: Storage Value Analysis

Apple has introduced the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro to its refurbished store with a $240 discount, bringing the price to $1,359. The refurbished model retains the original 512GB storage configuration from last October's release. This follows Apple's recent hardware revision where they increased the base storage to 1TB and raised the starting price to $1,699.

Amazon currently offers the 1TB version of the same machine for $1,549, which is still higher than the refurb price but provides double the storage capacity. The timing of this refurb release comes after Apple adjusted their pricing strategy for the M5 MacBook Pro line. The base configuration change means consumers now get more storage for their money but at a higher starting point.

Apple has also expanded its refurb lineup to include the A16 iPad models, offering $50 discounts on the base configuration. The refurbished iPads retain the same storage and cellular upgrade options as their new counterparts. With both the MacBook Pro and iPad now in the refurb store, Apple appears to be maintaining its strategy of providing certified pre-owned devices while addressing their recent product lineup changes.
