Qualcomm and Apple have renewed their global patent licensing agreement, extending the deal through April 1, 2027. The companies previously engaged in a legal battle from 2017 to 2019, when Apple sued Qualcomm over patent licensing practices and royalty payments. The dispute ended with both parties dropping litigation and entering a six-year licensing agreement that Apple extended through 2027.

Qualcomm announced today's renewal, with the new agreement taking effect April 1, 2027. Financial terms were not disclosed, and Apple has not commented. The renewal is separate from Apple's modem strategy, as the company recently used Qualcomm modems in U.S. iPhone models while deploying its own C2 modem elsewhere.
