Wigmore Hall Live relaunches as a digital-only platform in partnership with Apple Music Classical, marking a significant expansion for Apple's classical streaming service. The 550-seat London venue, renowned for chamber music and early music since 1901, will release four exclusive recordings annually through this collaboration announced during the Hall's 125th anniversary celebrations.

The partnership operates under an artist-first model where Wigmore Hall covers all production costs and passes 100% of royalties directly to performing artists, taking no share of recording income. Each release premieres exclusively on Apple Music Classical for three months. Director John Gilhooly emphasized the platform's sound quality allows listeners to experience Wigmore Hall concerts as close to the live event as possible.

The inaugural release features pianist Boris Giltburg performing Beethoven's Piano Sonatas Nos. 4, 8, 9, 20, and 26, recorded live at the Hall in February 2025. The recording includes an artist commentary track providing deeper insight into the repertoire. This launch adds to Apple Music Classical's existing partnerships with major institutions like the Berlin Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera.

Apple Music Classical launched in March 2023 after acquiring Primephonic in 2021, offering over five million classical tracks through standard Apple Music subscriptions. The Wigmore Hall deal strengthens Apple's position in the classical market while supporting artists with unprecedented royalty sharing.
