Apple Lets Leaker Jon Prosser Challenge iOS 26 Trade‑Secret Case

Apple and leaker Jon Prosser jointly petitioned a federal court to overturn the default judgment imposed last October. Prosser, who missed his deadline to answer Apple’s July 2025 complaint, agreed to hand over documents he has yet to fully produce. The move lets him formally contest the trade‑secret claims for the first time.

Apple sued Prosser and Michael Ramacciotti for misappropriating trade secrets after Prosser released videos of iOS 26’s Liquid Glass design months before Apple’s public reveal. The complaint alleges Ramacciotti accessed a phone belonging to engineer Ethan Lipnik, showed Prosser a pre‑release build, and received payment, leading to Lipnik’s dismissal.

Despite a joint status report in April showing Prosser still non‑compliant, Apple pushed for a court order to compel him. Prosser’s lack of legal counsel until April 2026 and incomplete responses to subpoenas have stalled progress, contrasting with Ramacciotti’s willingness to cooperate and discuss settlement since October.

Under a June 9 stipulation, Prosser must deliver all responsive materials by June 9, 2026, and sit for a deposition by June 16. Apple claims setting aside the default is the most efficient path forward. If the court approves, Prosser will have ten days to file a pleading, finally giving him a chance to defend himself.
