Apple rolled out an update to iCloud Shared Albums that finally brings full-resolution photo sharing to Android and Windows users. This addresses one of the most frustrating limitations for families and friend groups that use mixed device ecosystems, where non-Apple users were previously restricted to compressed images.

Previously, Android and Windows users could view shared albums through iCloud.com but couldn't contribute photos at original quality. The update removes that barrier, allowing anyone with a web browser to add full-resolution images without compression. This makes cross-platform photo sharing genuinely seamless for the first time.

Apple also added photo filtering options and reaction features to shared albums, plus streamlined invitation tools for adding contributors. These quality-of-life improvements make the service more competitive with Google Photos and other cross-platform solutions.
