Apple and Broadcom have extended their chip partnership through 2031. The agreement expands the scope of custom chip development and supply, covering radio‑frequency components, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and other networking semiconductors that appear in every Apple device. The extension also secures a long‑term supply of components critical for future iPhone models, reducing risk of shortages.

Apple remains one of Broadcom’s largest customers, accounting for roughly 20% of the chipmaker’s annual revenue. While the company has begun moving key designs in‑house—most notably its C1 and C1X cellular modems—Broadcom still supplies many wireless connectivity parts across Apple’s lineup.

In 2023, the two firms inked a multibillion‑dollar deal for 5G radio‑frequency components manufactured in the United States. The new extension keeps that arrangement in place, and Broadcom shares rose about 4% in pre‑market trading after the announcement.

For consumers, the deal guarantees continued access to mature connectivity solutions while Apple tests its own designs. For the industry, it signals sustained demand for Broadcom’s RF technology and underscores the importance of domestic manufacturing for 5G infrastructure.
