Android 17 introduces a wireless native migration experience to ease the transition from iPhone to Android devices. This upgraded method allows for the transfer of Google Accounts, passwords, Wi-Fi credentials, and eSIMs, in addition to photos, videos, contacts, messages, and calendars previously supported.

Data transfers now require an iPhone running iOS 26.3 or later. These improvements, alongside similar tools for iPhone users switching to Android, were implemented by both Apple and Google to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act. This legislation mandates data portability to prevent operating system lock-in and has also simplified the eSIM transfer process.

Android 17's enhanced data transfer capabilities began rolling out to select Pixel devices in June and will be available on Samsung's new Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 smartphones.
