Apple's 20th anniversary iPhone is expected to arrive in fall 2027 with the most significant redesign since the iPhone X. The original iPhone launched June 29, 2007, but Apple will likely stick to its September launch window, as it did with the 10th-anniversary model in 2017. The device may skip the "iPhone 19" name, with rumors calling it the "iPhone 20" or "iPhone XX."

Ten major features have been rumored. A curved all-glass design with quad-curved "micro-curves" and a 1.1mm bezel is reportedly in production, per Mark Gurman. The display may use a Samsung-made panel with Color Filter on Encapsulation, 16nm driver chips, and a crater-shaped diffusion layer for uniform brightness. Under-display Face ID is desired but may not be ready, leaving a smaller Dynamic Island. Two sizes (6.3 and 6.9 inches, the latter marketed as 7-inch) are planned.

Other upgrades include a custom Apple stacked image sensor with LOFIC technology for up to 20 stops of dynamic range, solid-state haptic buttons (Project Bongo) functional even when powered off, a second-gen 2nm A21 chip, mobile high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI, an Apple-designed modem debuting in U.S. models, and a pure silicon battery potentially reaching 6,000mAh. A second-gen foldable iPhone is expected to launch alongside it.
