Xiaomi has shared more details about the versatile rear display coming to the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series. In a short teaser video on Weibo, the company showed users will be able to create AI-powered apps for specific tasks that appear on the rear display. Examples include drinking water reminders, egg cooking timers, recipe recommendations, and learning new English words.

Previously, the rear display on the Xiaomi 17 Pro series was limited to select widgets and pre-installed app cards. Xiaomi also confirmed partnerships with several brands in China to offer custom app cards for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series rear display. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are set to debut in China later this month and are rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s yet to be announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
