Sony has confirmed there will be "no change in status" for its Xperia phone lineup despite recent concerns about the company's partnership with TCL for Bravia TVs. During the latest earnings call, Sony CFO Lin Tao reassured investors about the smartphone division's future. Meanwhile, Japanese site S-Max discovered model names for the upcoming Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII in the GSMA IMEI database.

These new models follow the Xperia 1 VII and 10 VII, which launched in June and September 2025 respectively. The flagship Xperia 1 VIII carries model numbers PM-152X-BV, XQ-GE44, XQ-GE54, and XQ-GE74, while the mid-range Xperia 10 VIII uses PM-153X-BV, XQ-GH44, XQ-GH54, and XQ-GH74. The cryptic naming convention remains consistent with previous generations, with X denoting regional variants.

This marks the third consecutive generation without an Xperia 5 model, as the last one was the Mark V from September 2023. The IMEI database reveals both phones will feature a single nano-SIM slot and eSIM capability. Sony maintains its unpredictable launch schedule, releasing new devices when they're ready rather than following a strict timeline. The discovery confirms Sony's continued commitment to its smartphone lineup despite industry consolidation trends.
