The Apple Original Films feature "Tenzing" is now available to stream on Apple TV. The film had a limited theatrical premiere a few days ago and stars Genden Phuntsok as Tenzing Norgay, Tom Hiddleston as Edmund Hillary, and Willem Dafoe as Colonel John Hunt. Based on true events, it chronicles the little-known story of Tenzing Norgay, a gifted Himalayan climber who, alongside Edmund Hillary, was the first to summit Mount Everest.
Encouraged by his wife Dawa, Tenzing finds an ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson. Together, they persuade Colonel John Hunt that Tenzing belongs on the British climbing team. The film explores tensions between backgrounds, classes and competing ambitions, set against the perils of the mountain.
At high altitude, empire and aspiration fall away, leaving two outsiders bound by mutual respect. October has been a busy month for Apple TV, with premieres including "The Last First: Winter K2," "Small Prophets," and "Matchbox The Movie." Upcoming premieres include the second season of "Where’s Wanda?," the thriller series "Nocturne," and the true-crime podcast "Heart." Apple TV is available for $14.99 per month or as part of the Apple One bundle.
