Samsung's Foldable Camera Upgrade Targets Apple

Samsung is bringing a notable camera improvement to its next generation of foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold8 will feature a noticeably smaller hole-punch for the selfie camera on its cover display — the smallest cutout Samsung has ever used on a foldable device.

The Galaxy Z Fold Wide, Samsung's anticipated wider foldable variant, will share this design upgrade. Both devices are expected to debut at Samsung's next Unpacked event, most likely in July. This wider model appears to be Samsung's direct response to Apple's rumored iPhone Fold, which reportedly features a similar wide form factor and could launch in September.

The design refinement reflects intensifying competition in the foldable market. As Apple prepares to enter the space with its first foldable iPhone, Samsung is pushing hardware refinements to maintain its lead in the category the company essentially created.
