Rumors suggest Samsung will roll out its first foldable with a wider aspect ratio this year, a direct response to Apple’s iPhone Fold slated for September. Huawei already entered the segment with the Pura X Max, giving the Korean giant a ready-made benchmark. A leak from prolific leaker Ice Universe, posted on X, visualizes the two devices side by side, sparking immediate comparison among enthusiasts.

The Galaxy Z Fold Wide measures 123.9 × 164.4 × 4.3 mm unfolded and 123.9 × 82.2 × 9.8 mm folded, featuring a 4.7:3 cover screen and a 4:3 inner display that harks back to classic CRT proportions. Huawei’s Pura X Max is 120 × 166.5 × 5.2 mm unfolded, 120 × 85 × 11.2 mm folded, with a slightly taller aspect ratio. Compared to its Chinese rival, Samsung’s model is marginally smaller on two axes, though its cover panel stays thinner.

Both devices are slated for a July launch, alongside Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. The side‑by‑side specs set up a direct rivalry, even though Huawei’s presence remains largely confined to China while Samsung’s market share there is modest. By offering a wider‑screen foldable, Samsung hopes to lure premium users worldwide and convert the form‑factor novelty into tangible sales.
