Oppo Reno16 Review: Compact and Capable

Oppo's Reno16 arrives with a design that mirrors the Pro model, aiming for a more unified family approach. This standard version notably features a smaller 6.32-inch AMOLED display, a welcome change for users seeking compact devices in a market saturated with larger phones. Its 120Hz refresh rate and high peak brightness offer a premium viewing experience.

Under the hood, the Reno16 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, the same chipset found in its predecessor, which is a step down from the Pro's processor. Camera hardware sees a downgrade in the main sensor, moving from 200MP to 50MP, though it retains strong ultrawide and selfie cameras. A significant improvement is the upgraded 50MP ultrawide sensor, replacing the previous 8MP unit.

Battery capacity is slightly convoluted, with a 6,700mAh cell outside Europe and a 6,000mAh unit within. Regardless of region, the phone supports rapid 80W Super VOOC charging, with a full charge achievable in under an hour. Retail packaging varies, with EU models omitting the charger, forcing separate purchase for fast charging.
