Motorola quietly relaunches its Moto G87 under a new name in Brazil, calling it Moto G Max. The move follows the May release of the G87 elsewhere. Consumers can buy the device from the brand’s online store for BRL 2,519.10, about $488.

Under the new moniker, the phone keeps the same hardware: a 6.8‑inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh, 5,000‑nit peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i. The MediaTek Dimensity 6400 SoC powers 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and a feature set that includes fast charging and water resistance today.

Camera-wise, the G Max sports a 200MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization, alongside an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 32MP selfie camera. Battery life comes from a 5,200‑mAh pack that supports 33W wired charging and a 5G‑ready processor for daily usage and gaming sessions with minimal downtime.

The device also features stereo Dolby Atmos speakers, an in‑display fingerprint sensor, IP66/IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, and meets MIL‑STD‑810H durability standards. Whether Motorola will keep the Moto G Max label beyond Brazil remains unclear, but the dual branding mirrors common regional marketing tactics for mid‑range consumers across Latin America and potential expansion.
