Investment analyst Jeff Pu has shared a new research note with GF Securities detailing the upcoming iPhone Air 2. The device is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2027, before the end of March. According to Pu, the iPhone Air 2 will be powered by the A20 Pro chip, the same processor found in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, manufactured using TSMC's 2nm process.

The iPhone Air 2 will feature a smaller dynamic island compared to the original iPhone Air, along with a 48MP ultrawide camera to complement its main shooter. It will also include Apple's N2 chip for wireless networking, which should offer improvements over the N1 chip in the current iPhone Air, supporting enhanced Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread capabilities. The N2 chip is expected to improve the reliability of AirDrop and Personal Hotspot.

For connectivity, the iPhone Air 2 will utilize Apple's C2 modem for 5G mobile network access, a component also anticipated in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup across select markets. Pu notes that the device will retain the same 6.5-inch display, 12GB of RAM, and 18MP front-facing camera as its predecessor, maintaining core specifications while introducing significant internal upgrades.
