Huawei released the nova 16z alongside its nova 16 series, positioning it as an updated nova 15 with a single major addition: BeiDou satellite messaging. The phone keeps the OLED panel (1084 × 2412 px, color, glass) and the camera stack—50 MP main (f/1.9), 12 MP 3× telephoto (RYYB, OIS) and 50 MP selfie (f/2.4). Unlike the nova 16’s LTPO panel, the display runs at 120 Hz refresh, keeping power use predictable.

Power comes from a 6,000 mAh cell paired with 100 W wired SuperCharge, while the Kirin 8020 SoC matches the base nova 16’s performance. Consumers can choose 12 GB RAM with either 256 GB or 512 GB storage, offered in Iridescent Mother of Pearl, White Sky and Starry Night Black. In China, the 256 GB model sells for CNY 2,700 (about $400) and the 512 GB version for CNY 3,200.

Beyond messaging, the nova 16z supports dual‑band Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, Huawei’s StarFlash, NFC and tri‑band BeiDou alongside GPS and Galileo for positioning. USB‑C remains limited to USB 2.0 speeds, and a side‑mounted fingerprint sensor handles unlocks. By bundling satellite texting with a flagship‑level spec sheet, Huawei targets users who need reliable communication in remote areas, offering a ready‑made solution today.
