Huawei announced its nova 16 and nova 16 Pro smartphones, targeting the mid-range market with some standout features. The Pro model sports a 200MP main camera with RYYB sensor technology, while both versions pack large 7,000mAh batteries. These phones continue Huawei's design-forward approach in the nova lineup.

The nova 16 Pro features a 200MP 1/1.28" RYYB sensor with f/1.8 lens and OIS, plus a 50MP ultra-wide and 50MP telephoto with 3.7x zoom. The standard nova 16 gets a 50MP main camera and 50MP telephoto with 3.3x zoom. Both models run the Kirin 9010S chipset with 12GB RAM and support satellite messaging through BeiDou. The 7,000mAh batteries support 100W SuperCharge but lack wireless charging capabilities.

Display differences separate the models: the Pro uses a 6.84" LTPO panel with variable 1-120Hz refresh rate, while the vanilla model has a 6.68" OLED at 120Hz. Both phones retain the pill-shaped camera cutout and side-mounted fingerprint readers. Connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, though water resistance remains limited to IP65 rating.

Pricing starts at CNY 3,000 (approximately $445) for the nova 16 and CNY 3,900 ($575) for the nova 16 Pro. Four color options are available across both models. Despite impressive camera hardware and battery life, these devices face challenges in markets where Google services remain restricted.
