Honor’s flagship Magic8 Pro has joined the Android 17 beta program, making Android 17 Beta 3 available for testing. Developers can now download the update to assess new features and app compatibility on the device, which must run software version 10.0.0.162 or newer. This move follows Google’s March release of the same beta in late March year for Android 17.

Android 17 Beta 3 introduces system‑wide Bubbles, RAW14 image support, expanded UI customization, a richer Dark theme, and tighter privacy controls. Honor stresses that the Magic8 Pro must already be updated to 10.0.0.162 to receive the beta. Users and developers can now test these features ahead of the stable release slated for September in this year for Android 17.

The beta rollout aligns with Google’s broader strategy to surface new Android builds earlier to OEMs. By enabling the Magic8 Pro to run Beta 3, Honor offers developers a real‑world platform to fine‑tune apps and users a preview of upcoming UI refinements. The stable public release is expected in September, closing the gap between beta and production.

Consumers eye the Magic8 Pro’s 512GB 12GB RAM variant, priced at €915, as a high‑end option for testing the new Android experience. With the beta now accessible, developers can identify compatibility gaps, while users can gauge performance impacts before the September rollout. This stage of testing is critical for a smooth transition to the final Android 17.
