Google to End Pixel Production in China by 2027

According to a new report, Google wants to stop making any Pixel products in China next year, including smartphones, smartwatches, and earbuds. While the company has been expanding production in Vietnam and India, a significant portion of Pixel products are still manufactured in China.

The 2027 timeline reportedly stems from Google's successful development and production of Pixel phones in Vietnam this year. Since smartphones are more complex to manufacture than smartwatches and earbuds, the company is now confident it can make the full switch.

If the rumored plan materializes, Google would become the second global phone brand to exit China manufacturing, following Samsung. This move is easier for Google since it doesn't sell phones in China, similar to Samsung's negligible market share there.

Google reportedly plans to ship 8-10% more Pixel smartphones this year compared to last year's 12 million units. To reduce memory chip costs, Google has allegedly bundled cloud computing chip orders with smartphone orders when negotiating with the memory triopoly of Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.
