Gemini Intelligence limited to premium Android flagships

Google unveiled Gemini Intelligence, a suite that can run multi-step tasks in background, auto-fetch info, interact with apps, plus Gboard “Rambler” for free-form speech mixing languages. Demos show the feature promises to automate routine workflows without user intervention, handling everything from web searches to data transformation on the device itself. Developers can also tap the underlying AICore API to embed similar capabilities in third‑party apps.

Rollout limited to high‑end Android flagships. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 will be first, while Google confirmed Galaxy S26 series and Pixel 10 line receive it this summer. Requirements: minimum 12 GB RAM, AICore service, Gemini Nano v3+, flagship SoC, five OS upgrades and six years of security patches to ensure consistent performance across updates.

Such a strict hardware bar narrows the market to a handful of premium devices; non‑Pro Pixel 11 models rumored with 8 GB RAM will likely miss out. Consumers get AI that stays on‑device, reducing latency and data exposure, but the exclusivity may push mid‑range buyers toward alternative cloud AI solutions. Ultimately, Gemini Intelligence will initially live only on elite flagships, a premium differentiator for OEMs.
