Gemini AI lands first on Samsung's upcoming foldables

Google unveiled its Gemini Intelligence suite this week, promising rollout to the Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 later in the summer. A Korean leak, however, places the first implementation on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, with the Wide Fold likely joining if it appears alongside them. The features would arrive on Samsung’s foldables before the flagship S series.

Samsung’s One UI 9, currently in internal testing, will embed Gemini Intelligence and ship with Android 17. The tighter integration reflects a years‑long trend of Google debuting AI tools on Samsung hardware before they trickle down to Pixels and the broader Android ecosystem. Timed exclusivity lets Samsung tout “first‑in‑class” AI, a selling point for premium foldables.

Consumers who grab a Fold8 or Flip8 this summer will experience Gemini’s real‑time translation, visual search and context‑aware suggestions ahead of other Android phones. While the advantage fades once the features roll out to the S26, Pixel 10 and later devices, early access could sway buyers in a crowded premium market where AI differentiation increasingly drives purchase decisions in the US market.
