Samsung and Qualcomm have confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will feature a custom version of Qualcomm's latest mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. This enhanced chip offers higher clock speeds, with its prime CPU cores running at 4.74GHz and the Adreno 840 GPU at 1.3GHz, representing a binned-up version of the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

While the Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra will both utilize this upgraded Snapdragon chip, the Galaxy Z Flip8 will take a different approach. It is slated to use Samsung's own Exynos 2600 processor in Europe and South Korea, with other regions receiving a Snapdragon variant, likely also the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. This strategy mirrors Samsung's recent Galaxy S26 series, which also saw regional processor variations.

Details about the new foldables were hinted at in a social media post showcasing outlines, suggesting the Z Fold8 might adopt a wider internal display aspect ratio. Samsung is also reportedly planning to unveil these new devices at a Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22. The use of a more powerful, custom chip across its flagship foldable line indicates Samsung's continued push for top-tier performance in this premium device category.
