Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Review: Worth the Upgrade?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra appears identical to its predecessor, but meaningful enhancements lie beneath the surface. It preserves the exact thin profile and familiar weight, leaving rounded corners unaddressed. Still, careful refinements distinguish this generation from prior iterations.

Beneath the cover, Samsung fitted a larger 5,000m Ah silicon-carbon cell, significantly boosting endurance within the unchanged chassis. A redesigned hinge permits a perfectly flat stance with a barely perceptible crease, closing the gap with competitors. Both displays offer heightened brightness, a useful anti-reflective layer, and elevated pixel density for superior daylight readability.

Equipped with flagship Qualcomm silicon, 12GB of memory, and 256GB capacity, it arrives preloaded with Android 17 and One UI 9. Yet the commanding $2,099 asking price demands justification. When paired with a subpar telephoto lens, unavoidable surface instability, absent Qi 2 compatibility, and rapid heat buildup, the handset struggles to justify its premium positioning.
