Amazon has expanded its Alexa+ AI chatbot service to eligible Fire TV devices at no additional cost. The company originally launched Alexa+ in February, offering free unlimited access to US Prime subscribers. Now, users with compatible Fire TV hardware can access the AI assistant without requiring a Prime membership.

Eligible devices include all current-generation Fire TV Sticks, the Fire TV Cube, Amazon Ember Smart TVs, and select smart TVs from trusted brands like Hisense and Panasonic with Alexa+ built-in. These devices will automatically receive the Alexa+ upgrade with no manual setup, downloads, or subscriptions needed.

For Prime members, additional benefits include Alexa+ on compatible Echo devices, access to Alexa Routines, specific Ring camera moments, and advanced Home Modes for smart home automation. Alexa+ serves as Amazon's competitor to ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, though it remains focused on Amazon's ecosystem rather than general-purpose AI assistance.

The chatbot supports natural language conversations, understands context, answers follow-up questions, helps discover content to watch, transfers Prime Video playback between devices, provides on-screen information about shows, and controls smart home devices.
