Google's navigation app Waze is expanding its AI toolkit with several new features. The Motorcycle mode uses Gemini‑powered AI to highlight shortcuts and hazards such as potholes, speed bumps, raised crosswalks, shoulder endings and narrow bridges, while still relying on real‑time traffic data and a team of motorcycle‑focused editors.

Personalization is also getting a boost: the app can now suggest routes based on past trips, though users can turn this off. A new Less Chatty mode trims voice prompts to only critical directions, reducing interruptions.

Waze’s Gemini integration brings Conversational Reporting, allowing drivers to report incidents or suggest map updates using natural language, and to query voice searches like “find me a gas station nearby with the lowest prices.” These updates roll out globally on Android and iOS, with Motorcycle mode initially launching in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines.
