Waymo expands fully autonomous rides to four cities

Waymo is expanding its fully autonomous robotaxi service to four new cities: San Diego, Las Vegas, Tampa, and Denver. Initially, these driverless operations will be available to Waymo employees before opening up to the public.

This expansion means Waymo will soon offer fully autonomous rides in over 10 cities, adding to its existing services in Dallas, Houston, Orlando, and San Antonio. The Alphabet-owned company is also testing its vehicles internationally, with operations underway in London.

The move signals a significant step in Waymo's rollout of driverless technology. However, the company recently ended its integration with Uber in Phoenix, with Uber now pursuing its own autonomous vehicle initiatives. Consumers will see more driverless options, but the competitive landscape is also shifting.
