Volvo's EX60 marks a fresh attempt to regain EV momentum after stumbles with the software-plagued EX90 and tariff-impacted EX30. This mid-size SUV, sized alongside the popular XC60, debuts a radical new platform with gigacast aluminum construction and a high-density 112-kWh battery in its top trim. Three configurations are offered, from a 369-hp single-motor model to a 670-hp dual-motor version boasting a 400-mile range.

Powering the tech is a dual-chipset approach: NVIDIA handles active safety via its Drive AGX Orin chipset, while Qualcomm's 8255 runs the infotainment. The system runs on Android Automotive with a curved 15-inch OLED screen and integrated Apple Music. Notably, Volvo's first integrated Google Gemini AI can access exterior cameras for contextual queries, a feature that will expand over time.

Charging uses the Tesla-style NACS standard, with the larger packs supporting up to 370 kW for a 10-80% charge in under 20 minutes. Volvo opted against LiDAR for the EX60, a decision that seems prudent given the recent bankruptcy of its former partner, Luminar. Priced around $60,000 for a mid-tier model, the EX60 is positioned to directly challenge BMW's iX3 and the upcoming Mercedes GLC EV.
