Volvo's new EX60 electric SUV arrives as the first model on the company's dedicated SPA3 EV platform, promising up to 400 miles of range. The lineup includes two variants: the P10 all-wheel drive and P6 rear-wheel drive. Built at Volvo's Torslanda plant near Gothenburg, Sweden, the EX60 represents a fundamental shift in manufacturing with megacasting technology.

Megacasting replaces over 100 traditional parts with single aluminum components, reducing weight and complexity. Volvo invested roughly $1.1 billion in the facility, using 6,000-ton die-casting machines to create the rear floor section. The battery integrates directly into the vehicle structure through cell-to-body design, improving packaging efficiency and extending range capabilities.

Swedish engineers take moose safety seriously, testing every Volvo model with an 800-pound rubber moose dummy. The EX60 features reinforced A-pillars and roof structure designed to protect occupants during wildlife collisions. Pricing starts at $59,795 for the P6 Plus, climbing to $68,745 for the P10 AWD Ultra with enhanced performance and range.

The EX60 supports 350 kW charging, replenishing from 10 to 80 percent in just 16 minutes. Google Gemini AI integration through Volvo's HuginCore platform enables natural voice commands, while the flagship model boasts a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system delivering 1820 watts of three-dimensional Dolby Atmos sound.
