The popular Viking survival game, Valheim, is slated to arrive on Switch 2 later this year. Initially launched in early access on Steam in 2021, the game allows up to ten players to explore a procedurally generated open world inspired by Norse mythology. Players must craft gear, build shelters, and battle enemies to survive.

Before its Switch 2 debut, Valheim launched on PC and later came to Xbox. A PS5 version is also planned for release this year. The game's objective centers around defeating gods to gain access to Valhalla, though players can also focus on gathering recipes and enjoying feasts. The Switch 2 port was announced during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation.

While the announcement trailer doesn't showcase cutting-edge graphics, the game is still in early access. It will support mouse controls and HD Rumble 2 on the new Nintendo console. This port's release date, like the PS5 version's, is yet to be revealed, but they may launch simultaneously when the game hits version 1.0.

This move signals the continued expansion of Valheim's reach to new platforms. For Nintendo, bringing in a popular title like Valheim could attract more players and help boost the appeal of its upcoming console. This follows a trend of bringing successful indie games to the Switch family.
