Uber is introducing Cart Assistant, an AI-powered feature in the Uber Eats app designed to streamline grocery shopping. The tool automatically fills your basket with items from your shopping list, whether you type it out or upload a photo of a handwritten list. It also works with screenshots of recipe ingredients.

Cart Assistant factors in product availability, displays prices, and highlights promotions while building your basket. Users can delete or swap recommended items, add forgotten products later, and benefit from prioritized suggestions based on past purchases. Uber notes the feature is currently in beta and may not perform perfectly.

This launch continues Uber's push to integrate AI across its Eats platform. Last summer, the company added AI-enhanced food images, menu descriptions, and restaurant review summaries. By automating the grocery selection process, Cart Assistant aims to save time and reduce the effort of building shopping lists, though its beta status means users should expect some growing pains.
