Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple's upcoming MacBook Pro models with OLED displays will be "significantly lighter" than current versions. "Apple has reengineered the machine's interior, miniaturizing parts and rearranging components to make the computer much easier to carry," he wrote in his Power On newsletter. The existing MacBook Pro weighs up to 4.7 pounds, compared to the MacBook Air at 3.3 pounds and the MacBook Neo at 2.7 pounds.

The new OLED models are rumored to include six features: OLED display, touch-screen capabilities, Dynamic Island instead of a notch, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a thinner design, and the "significantly lighter" construction. Apple plans to release these models in October or November this year, with testing reportedly underway using macOS 27.2, currently in beta.

The OLED MacBook Pro models are expected to be higher-end, higher-priced options positioned above existing MacBook Pro models in Apple's lineup.
