Twitch announced new penalties for streamers using viewbotting tools to inflate viewer counts. CEO Dan Clancy revealed the platform will impose concurrent view (CCV) caps on repeat offenders, based on historical non-bot traffic data. The measure, rolling out over weeks, limits artificial viewership across all Twitch surfaces, with penalties escalating for repeated violations.

Clancy emphasized the challenge of combating viewbotting, noting that third-party tools constantly adapt to evade detection. "Effectively combatting viewbotting is challenging," he wrote, highlighting an ongoing arms race between Twitch’s real-time detection algorithms and bot developers.
