CD Projekt Red announced a remastered version of The Witcher 3 during Gamescom Opening Night Live, releasing September 29 as a free upgrade for current owners. The overhaul includes both previous DLC expansions, visual updates, and system overhauls such as a revised skill tree, improved combat mechanics with new finishers, smoother movement for Geralt, and adjusted mount handling. The studio also confirmed a free Switch 2 upgrade for original Switch purchasers.

Earlier this year, CDPR revealed a third DLC, Songs of the Past, arriving next year, with a gameplay teaser shown at Gamescom. This expansion for a decade-old title is unusual but may tide fans over until the next proper sequel, expected no earlier than 2028. Additionally, a modern remake of the first Witcher game remains in development.
