CD Projekt Red unveiled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered at Gamescom 2026, promising visual, performance, and gameplay upgrades as a free update for existing owners. The Remastered edition arrives on September 29, but it brings significantly higher PC hardware demands.

Minimum specs now require an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB of RAM, and 70 GB of SSD storage, up from the original's Core i5-2500K or AMD A10-5800K. Recommended specs have also climbed to an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X with 16 GB of RAM, while GPUs now start at an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT, with recommended cards like the RTX 2060 Super.

The Remastered version will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2, suggesting it may run on Valve's Steam Deck and other handhelds, though with compromises. The increased requirements may leave some players behind, especially amid the ongoing PC hardware shortage, but the update remains free for those who can meet the new specs.
