Sony introduces two new Bravia Theater soundbars, the Bar 5 and Bar 7, alongside upgraded subwoofers and rear speakers. The Bar 7, positioned in Sony’s premium tier, features nine drivers for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced audio, with a design including three woofers, two tweeters, and X-Balanced drivers. It bundles with the $330 Sub 7 subwoofer or can be paired with Rear 9 speakers for $750. The Bar 5, priced at $350, offers a compact 3.1-channel setup with simulated overhead effects via S-Force Pro Front Surround, ideal for smaller spaces.

The new subwoofer lineup includes the Sub 7 ($330), Sub 8 ($500), and Sub 9 ($900), with dual-subwoofer support for enhanced bass. The Rear 9 speakers, priced at $750 per pair, use aluminum diaphragms and swivel mounts for immersive overhead sound. These additions aim to compete with high-end home theater systems, though their premium pricing may limit accessibility.

Sony emphasizes connectivity: all three subs work with Bar 7, 8, or 9 models, and select receivers. The Bar 5’s affordability and Voice Zoom 3 feature target budget-conscious buyers, while the Bar 7’s $870 bundled price appeals to audiophiles. Pre-orders for most products launch later this spring, with the Bar 5 available immediately.

This expansion solidifies Sony’s position in the premium soundbar market, blending advanced audio engineering with modular upgrades. However, the high cost of components like the Sub 9 ($900) and Rear 9 speakers could deter casual consumers. The focus on Dolby Atmos and scalable bass solutions highlights Sony’s push toward cinematic home audio experiences.
