Sony expanded its home audio lineup with the Bravia Theater Trio, a three-speaker system targeting viewers who find soundbars limiting or stereo setups cumbersome. The configuration includes two satellite speakers and a compact soundbar that can grow into a larger system. Each satellite packs a 100mm woofer, 20mm tweeter, and 80mm up-firing driver, while the center unit carries dual pill-shaped woofers and a central tweeter.

The system incorporates Sony's 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, developed with Sony Pictures, creating up to 24 virtual speakers for immersive audio. It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced content, with wireless connectivity and USB-C microphone calibration for room optimization. Users can add rear speakers or subwoofers to expand the setup.

A new Direct Connect feature lets Bravia TVs link wirelessly to rear speakers and subwoofers without requiring a soundbar, leveraging the TV's built-in speakers as the foundation. This addresses the common frustration of choosing between underwhelming TV audio and complex multi-speaker installations.
