Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Get Prescription Upgrade

Meta and EssilorLuxottica have launched two new Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses models designed specifically for prescription lens wearers. The Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics start at $499, representing a significant price increase from the standard $379 Gen 2 Wayfarer model. Both new styles feature slimmer frames with swappable nosepads and adjustable temple tips for a more personalized fit.

The new frames expand compatibility with various prescription lens types, including progressives and transitions, addressing a key limitation of previous smart glasses. The Blayzer maintains the square silhouette of classic Wayfarers, while the Scriber offers a more rounded profile similar to Headliner frames. Available in multiple colors including translucent options, the glasses are now available for pre-order ahead of their April 14 release.

Beyond hardware improvements, Meta is enhancing the software experience across all Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. New features include translation support for Japanese, Mandarin, and Arabic, Meta AI-powered food and nutrition tracking, and the ability to summarize long message threads. The expanded retail distribution through LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and other EssilorLuxottica locations should make these prescription-compatible smart glasses more accessible to consumers seeking both vision correction and wearable technology.
