Meta's Budget AI Glasses Arrive

Meta is expanding its smart glasses lineup with three new models: Fury, Adventurer, and Kylie, all launching on June 23, 2026, starting at $299. These new glasses, manufactured by Essilor Luxottica, aim to offer a more accessible entry point into AI-powered eyewear compared to pricier branded options like Ray-Ban and Oakley.

While the lower price point is a significant draw, the Meta Glasses come with a notable limitation: a narrower prescription range of -6.00 to +2.25, compared to the -6.00 to +6.00 offered by Ray-Ban and Oakley models. This makes them less ideal for users requiring significant vision correction. However, the new models incorporate design improvements such as a 3-way adjustable nose pad and flexible temple tips for enhanced comfort, and an additional action button for hands-free control.

Beyond design, the Meta Glasses continue to offer advanced AI features, including real-time translation in 20 languages and a beta food logging function for calorie estimation. The camera captures 12MP photos and 3K Ultra HD video. Despite the comfort and feature upgrades, a recurring concern is the glasses' weight, which can become noticeable after extended wear. The $399 Meta Starfire by Kylie model offers unique features like a custom AI voice. These budget-friendly options suggest Meta's strategy to broaden the appeal of smart glasses beyond early adopters.
