Prada-Designed Spacesuit Layer for NASA Artemis Mission

Axiom Space has unveiled the inner layer of its new spacesuit for NASA's upcoming Artemis III lunar missions. The Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment (LCVG), designed in collaboration with luxury brand Prada, will help maintain astronaut comfort during moon surface operations. This follows the reveal of the suit's outer layer earlier this year.

The LCVG removes body heat by circulating water through tubes across major muscle groups, while also delivering fresh oxygen and removing carbon dioxide. Unlike previous suits, it features a backup cooling circuit if the primary system fails. This critical layer stands between astronauts and the unforgiving lunar environment.

Prada's involvement may seem unusual, but the luxury brand brings expertise in design, pattern making, and advanced materials. The collaboration demonstrates NASA's focus on both functionality and aesthetics in next-generation equipment. For astronauts heading to the moon, comfort matters as much as survival during extended missions.
