Netflix debuted Unhinged, a new horror game from Night School Studio that uses your smartphone as more than just a controller. The title stars Zoë Kravitz as Ava, trapped in her apartment during a hurricane, alongside Sadie Sink and Troy Baker. Instead of traditional controls, the game mirrors your phone's movements to direct Ava's flashlight and routes in-game calls and texts directly to your device.

This phone integration represents Netflix's push into interactive gaming after acquiring Night School as its first studio purchase. The mechanic transforms your actual phone into Ava's communication lifeline, making notifications feel genuine rather than simulated. Players can explore the apartment environment while Claire (Sink) guides them from across the street via real phone interactions.

Unhinged offers both story mode for narrative-focused players and timed challenge modes requiring quick object-finding before Ava meets an untimely death. Netflix positions this as a bite-sized experience requiring roughly the time commitment of a TV episode. The game launches June 30 for subscribers with compatible streaming setups.

Netflix continues expanding beyond traditional streaming into gaming territory, leveraging its original content expertise for interactive experiences. This represents another step in the company's strategy to blend entertainment mediums.
