Netflix adds Overcooked with Stranger Things characters

Netflix is expanding its streaming game library with a custom version of Overcooked! All You Can Eat, featuring characters from Stranger Things and KPop Demon Hunters. The cloud gaming platform, launched with titles like Lego Party and Tetris Time Warp, now offers this frantic cooking game where teams prepare food in obstacle-filled kitchens.

Unlike standard versions, Netflix's Overcooked includes 10 Netflix-affiliated chefs like Dustin, Eleven, Lucas, and the Demogorgon from Stranger Things, plus six characters from KPop Demon Hunters including Mira, Rumi, and Zoey. The game bundles the same DLC and stages from the 2020 original, requiring players to use smartphones as controllers for the streaming experience.

This release reflects Netflix's evolving gaming strategy under Alan Tascan, former Epic Games executive who became President of Games in 2024. Since taking over, Tascan has cancelled several mobile games and reportedly shut down Netflix's AAA game studio, signaling a shift toward streaming-focused titles and cross-platform content like the upcoming Overcooked game show being developed by A24 for Netflix.
