Motorola Razr Ultra: $200 Overpriced Flip Phone

Motorola rolls out the new Razr Ultra in 2026, slashing a $200 price gap over last year’s model while adding a 50‑megapixel LOFIC sensor. The flip keeps its familiar 3‑inch exterior and 7‑inch interior, but now sports a 5,000‑mAh battery that delivered 31 hours in tests. The design stays compact, 15.7 mm thick for everyday handset use and value for customers.

Performance hinges on a Snapdragon 8 Elite, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage, matching the previous Ultra’s specs. Yet the new cover screen supports Live Updates and resizable tiles, while the interior display peaks at 5,000 nits. Battery charging tops out at 68 watts wired, but requires a proprietary TurboPower adapter not included with the phone for maximum charging performance when using compatible accessories and recharging.

Despite solid battery life and a refined camera that cuts noise, the Razr Ultra feels overpriced. Competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 start around $1,100, and last year’s Moto model sells for $800. With only a new sensor and larger battery, the $200 premium lacks justification, making the Ultra a niche choice for flip‑phone enthusiasts rather than a mainstream contender.
