Tribute Games has launched the first DLC for its retro side-scrolling beat-em-up Marvel Cosmic Invasion, adding Cyclops and The Thing for $3.99 across all platforms. The leader of the X-Men arrives as the most requested character by fans, bringing his iconic optic blast to the roster alongside the rock-solid Fantastic Four powerhouse.

In practice, the two play very differently. The Thing slots into a tank-heavy, grappling-focused role but still retains solid mobility with a bouncing move to navigate the map. Cyclops, meanwhile, unleashes his kinetic beams from range, able to fire diagonally to hit airborne enemies or set up surprise attacks.

New characters expand the tag-team combo possibilities, letting players pair The Thing and Cyclops with existing squad members like Captain America, Spider-Man, and Phoenix. Since its December release, the game holds a Very Positive rating on Steam, and Tribute Games is already working on a second DLC for fall that will add a new game mode and more playable characters.
