After years of legal battles and development, Ecco the Dolphin: Complete is finally coming. Announced by creator Ed Annunziata's studio A&R Atelier, the package combines remasters of the first two games with an entirely new sequel, promising "the complete, definitive Ecco the Dolphin experience" made by the original team. The collection includes all versions of the first two titles alongside a contemporary Ecco game.

The compilation brings more than just graphical improvements, featuring built-in speedrunning support, achievements, leaderboards, and the ability to create custom courses from existing levels. While A&R Atelier hasn't revealed platforms or release date, the official Ecco website shows a countdown clock, suggesting more details are imminent. This package resolves years of uncertainty about the franchise's future.

Annunziata's journey with Ecco has been complex. He sued Sega for the IP rights in 2013 after failing to fund spiritual sequel The Big Blue on Kickstarter. The 2016 settlement between Annunziata and Sega appears to have paved the way for Complete, bringing together the creator with his most famous creation after a decade of legal battles and failed attempts to revive the series.
