DJI has launched the RS 5 camera gimbal, the newest addition to its Ronin series. Weighing around three pounds with a maximum payload of nearly seven pounds, the RS 5 aims to offer a lightweight stabilization solution. It features enhanced intelligent subject tracking, allowing videographers to frame live footage and follow subjects directly from a touchscreen.

The gimbal's tracking module can track pets, vehicles, or other objects, and maintain focus up to 10 meters away. With DJI's latest stabilization algorithm, the RS 5 facilitates complex camera movements, including surround shots and reverse tracking. The device can also switch to vertical shooting. The standard package is priced at around $680, while a combo pack with extra features costs $859.

This release builds on DJI's established reputation in gimbal technology, competing with brands like Zhiyun and FeiyuTech. The RS 5 offers up to 14 hours of use per charge, with an optional battery grip extending that to 30 hours. However, a U.S. release date is currently unavailable due to import restrictions on some DJI products.

While DJI continues to innovate in the camera stabilization market, the company's recent challenges underscore the complexities of the global tech landscape.
