DJI Osmo Mobile 8P Gimbal Solves Solo Creator Problem

DJI has launched the Osmo Mobile 8P, a more professional version of last year's Osmo Mobile 8. The standout feature is a detachable "Frametap" remote with a built-in screen that lets solo creators control the gimbal and hit record from over 150 feet away — solving a major pain point for vloggers filming themselves.

The three-axis gimbal smooths out shaky smartphone footage and supports native subject tracking via Apple DockKit on iPhones or the optional Multifunctional Module 2 on Android. The new ActiveTrack 8.0 technology keeps subjects centered even in crowded environments like concerts, using the Mimo app to navigate around obstructions. Battery life is 10 hours, and the gimbal can double as a phone charger.

The Osmo Mobile 8P includes an 8.5-inch extension rod and telescoping tripod feet. Creative modes include DynamicZoom for blockbuster-style effects, Slow Shutter for light trails, and Action Shot for fast-moving subjects. It works with DJI's Mic Mini 2 wireless microphone for improved audio capture.

The gimbal is now available in Europe starting at £135 for the standard combo, with the Advanced Tracking Combo at £169 and Creator Combo at £195. US availability hasn't been announced yet.
