Disney & TikTok Partner for Fan Shorts on Disney+

Disney and TikTok have announced a partnership that will let creators make Disney‑centric vertical videos for Disney+’s Verts section. The Verts feature launched in March 2023, and this deal expands it to include fan‑generated content.

The pilot will be US‑only, granting creators access to a deep library of Disney assets from hundreds of films and series, including Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. Approved creators will publish their videos on both TikTok and Verts, with regular refreshes to grow audiences and “engage subscribers more deeply in timely fan conversations,” Disney said.

Alongside the content rollout, Disney and TikTok are launching the Disney Creator Ambassador Program. The program aims to nurture “best‑in‑class creators” by boosting visibility, offering exclusive events, and rewarding talent with incentives.

Internal data showed an average of 6.5 million film and TV posts shared on TikTok daily last year, and half of survey respondents said TikTok videos inspired them to watch a movie or show. The partnership follows speculation that Disney may introduce a free tier of Disney+, though it’s unclear how that would affect vertical video content. No firm launch date has yet been announced.
